AIS is seeking motivated individuals looking to start a career in NDT to support our team in Arkansas and North Carolina. As an NDT Level I, your responsibility is to perform those tasks outlined in AIS’s NDT Procedures per the Level I or trainee requirements. Examples may include performing specific NDT evaluations, set up and calibrate equipment, and record results. All under the supervision of Level II or Level III personnel. AIS will continuously support and train as you begin developing into an NDT technician.
Essential Job Functions
• Understand and follow AIS policies and safety procedures as well as site safety procedures
• UT, UTT, MT, PT, RT support for Level II Technicians
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns.
• Performs all duties as assigned.
• Gathers materials required to fill work orders, as directed.
• Sets up the machine, and positions workpieces for processing, as directed.
• Assists with necessary adjustments.
• Conducts job walks with certified technicians and can communicate requirements.
• Interfaces with clients and co-workers.
• Ensures jobs are completed promptly and according to schedule.
• Instructs assistant in set-up/tear-down of equipment; performs routine and preventive maintenance tasks, calibrations, and overall equipment and facilities upkeep.
• Completes proper documentation and reports of services provided.
• Learns and abides by NDT procedures.
Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license
• Travel requirements: 0% - 50%.
• Must pass a background check, drug, and alcohol screens.
• Self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills with a positive team-oriented attitude is required.
Work Conditions
• Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere and can tolerate climate changes. Conditions may include working in confined spaces, moving parts, moving objects, and producing extreme noise.
• Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel.
• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
• May be at more than one job site in a day.
• Must be able to travel out of state with proper advance notification.
Physical and Mental Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds.
• Must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs and ladders unassisted, work at elevated positions such as pipe racks, identify colors, hear without aid, unhindered eye-sight, ability to write, count, read, and speak effectively to communicate effectively.
• Excellent depth perception to communicate and operate a motor vehicle to perform duties.
• Ability to maintain focus, multitask effectively and proactively.
Tools and PPE Requirements
• Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing the essential job function include but are not limited to computer and related equipment, calculator, special instrumentation, hand tools, power tools, air tools, telephone, and automobile.
• Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, safety harness, hardhat, reinforced toed shoes, coveralls, gloves, and earplugs or muffs required by the safety department for personal protection.
